Whitening – An Easy Confidence Boost

The best way for you to maintain your beautiful, bright smile is by having great dental habits and hygiene. Two quick tips are to brush two times a day and to floss your teeth nightly! However, did you know that even with the best dental hygiene, your teeth can still be discolored?

What causes my teeth to be stained?

Many factors attribute to teeth discoloration: what you eat, drink, or even what you do! It is well known that favorite beverages such as coffee, tea, and wine stain your teeth, but acidic items such as soda can be a factor as well. Foods such as candy, berries, or condiments/sauces are common items that also stain.

Your teeth are likely to become more yellow over time as these minor surface stains begin to go deeper into the enamel. Once the dentin, or layer beneath the enamel, begins to stain, your teeth will develop a more permanent discoloration.

Smile with confidence

Life has tons of big events where you will want to look your best! However, stained teeth can make you feel a little self-conscious. Teeth whitening is an easy way for you to make sure you feel confident and ready to tackle that interview, presentation, or even be wedding ready! A bright, white smile can make you feel confident enough for anything.

How can I whiten my teeth?

Teeth whitening can be accomplished either at home or in-office by dental professionals. Many products are available over-the-counter (OTC) such as mouthwashes or rinses, whitening strips, or whitening toothpastes. While these can be easy for you to do yourself at home, these OTC products are not as powerful as professional whitening that is completed in-office. To ensure your smile is as white as it can be, we provide our patients with Philips Zoom! WhiteSpeed for the most effective and beautiful results.

How does Philips Zoom! work?

Philips Zoom! is typically conducted in three 15 minute sessions, for a total of 45 minutes. We begin by prepping your teeth with a hydrogen peroxide gel, which is used to whiten your teeth. Gum and cheek protectors are also applied during the prepping period. The whitening gel is chemically specialized to “break” the carbon bonds that stain your teeth. A powerful LED light is then used along with the gel to speed up, or accelerate, the chemical reaction.

After the procedure, we will give you custom trays for your teeth, an at-home whitening gel, and a syringe with gel oral care for sensitivity. The at-home whitening gel is to be used about 6 months after the procedure to maintain your new white smile!
