Kid’s Corner
Welcome To Our Kid’s Corner!
Preparing Your Child for a Dental Visit

Whether it is a first visit or a returning visit, children can be a little bit nervous or scared to see a dentist. From regular visits to fluoride, children do not always know what to expect or understand what going to the dentist really means. We find that parents can help their children minimize their fears and ease their anxieties by preparing them first! (We also have a blog post here to help you prepare for a visit also!)
One great way to prepare your kids for a dental visit is by reading them books with characters that they are familiar with. Fun and engaging stories that kids can relate to are very effective in showing children why seeing a dentist is important and how a check-up can be a fun experience. We hope that our Kid’s Corner is helpful!
Here are some of our favorite book recommendations:
- Show Me Your Smile (Dora the Explorer)
- Barney Goes to the Dentist
- Elmo Visits the Dentist
- The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist
- Caillou at the Dentist
Click on the links to order them on Amazon, or look for these titles at your local library. We also encourage your child to check out this awesome interactive video on the Mouth Healthy Kids website about a boy named Marty, who is visiting the dentist for a check-up.
How to Teach Your Child How to Care for Their Teeth
