Promoting Comfort and Cooperation
Your children’s mouths and teeth are in a constant state of growth and development, which is why pediatric dentistry is its own specialty, separate from general dentistry for adults. But even our skilled and knowledgeable pediatric dentists cannot rely on ability alone; our doctors also need to know how to make our young patients feel at ease!
Our Pediatric Team Are Experts In Behavior Management!
At Bethesda Dental Specialties, we use a number of behavior guidance techniques to help our patients feel comfortable getting treatment and to encourage them to cooperate with their care. Overall, we want your child to see visiting our office as a positive and fun experience.
Verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, tell-show-do, positive reinforcement, distraction, and voice control are just a few of the techniques that we use during your child’s dental visit. Our techniques work best when we communicate directly to our patients, and not through the parents. If you wish to be present while we treat your child in the dental chair, we ask that you silently observe and hold any comments until after the session is done.
