Dental Cleaning and Fluoride Treatment
The Importance Of A Dental Cleaning!
Even when your child is staying on top of regular brushing and flossing at home, daily care in front of the bathroom mirror is not enough to remove all the plaque and tartar that can build up on your child’s teeth. A professional dental cleaning every six months will get to all the areas that have been missed and remove build-up. We’ll also give you tips and advice on how to make brushing and flossing children’s teeth easier and more effective.
Plaque and tartar are some seriously stubborn things that will build up onto your child’s teeth! Even with dedicated daily brushing and flossing, only a professional dental cleaning provided at our office will clean all the little nooks and crannies that may have been missed. This cleaning should be completed every six months to remove all the build up that has occurred.
If needed, we may perform a treatment of fluoride varnish for your child’s teeth. This varnish is a sticky “paste” that is painted onto the teeth at the end of your child’s visit. Painting the varnish onto the teeth is a much better way to apply fluoride due to the direct application. Directly applying fluoride is more precise than other forms of fluoride treatment such as trays or foam. Kids will not accidentally swallow fluoride this way and are also able to eat or drink immediately (as long as it is not anything sticky!).
